Weepy eyes in dogs: what's normal and what's not

A little sleep in the corner is fine. Here's how to read the colour, the amount and the squint.

Some breeds simply have weepier eyes than others. Changes from your dog's normal are what matter most.

Signs to note

Thick or coloured discharge, redness, squinting or pawing at the face are all worth a chat with a vet.

Gentle cleaning

Use a soft cloth with warm water, wiping away from the eye. Never use human eye drops without advice.

Still not sure?

A real vet or vet nurse can look at your pet on video, from $35 USD.
