Something weird just happened, and I'm a bit unsure what to do. My cat, Luna, has been acting completely out of character since yesterday evening. She usually purrs and cuddles non-stop, but now she’s been hiding under the bed and flinching when I try to pet her. It all started after dinner when I noticed she seemed a little sluggish. She hasn’t eaten much since, and I’m starting to worry. I checked her paws, and they look okay, so I'm not sure if she got hurt or is just having an off day. Can anyone tell me if I should wait to see if she perks up or if a vet visit is necessary? I don’t want to overreact, but it doesn’t feel right seeing her so withdrawn.
Thanks for reaching out! It’s fantastic that your fifth grader is interested in learning about veterinary medicine. I’d be excited to answer a few interview questions for their project. Helping young students learn about animal care and the veterinary field is always rewarding and essential for inspiring the next generation.
Feel free to send over the questions, and I’ll do my best to provide clear and informative answers. If you or your child have any questions about pets or animal health in the future, know that Dial A Vet is a fantastic resource. We’re here to assist with health concerns and to educate pet owners.
Encouraging curiosity about animals and the responsibilities involved in their care is key, so I’m glad to be a part of this project. It’s crucial that young people understand the importance of kindness and responsibility towards animals.
If your child has any specific interests or questions about pet care, careers in veterinary medicine, or anything animal-related, I'm happy to help explore those topics further through a video consult with Dial A Vet.
The "Ask a Vet" forum on Dial A Vet offers general information and helpful tips on pet health, but it's
not a substitute for professional veterinary care. The advice here doesn't create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship, and our vets can't diagnose or treat your pet remotely.
For emergencies or specific medical concerns, always contact your local veterinarian immediately. Your pet's health is unique, and decisions should only be made after consulting with a qualified professional. By using this forum, you acknowledge these limitations and agree to seek in-person veterinary advice for all your pet's health needs. View our
