guys, I’m really hoping someone here can help me out because I'm starting to freak out a little. So, it's been a few days now that I’ve been finding these small piles of poop in my backyard. At first, I thought it was just my dog since she loves roaming around back there, but they're showing up even when she's inside with me, so now I’m stumped. They’re pretty small, kind of like rabbit droppings, but we don't usually see rabbits around here. Could it be another type of wildlife? Or is there a chance it’s something else entirely? I’m worried that if it’s not my dog, there might be some other animal getting into the yard. I just don't want anything harming her, or her picking up anything nasty! Any thoughts or similar experiences would be seriously appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi there! It’s not uncommon to stumble upon some unexpected droppings and wonder where they came from—especially if your furry friend is around. While it's hard to be certain without seeing them, we can talk through a few possibilities.
If you live in an area with wildlife like raccoons, deer, or squirrels, it's possible you encountered their droppings. Wildlife poop often differs from dog poop in size, shape, and consistency. For instance, raccoon droppings can resemble dog feces but often contain undigested food.
On the other hand, if the stool is close to where your dog usually does its business, it could be from your dog. Changes in your dog's diet, stress levels, or health can make their poop look different. You'll want to check for any signs that your dog might be experiencing discomfort, such as straining during bowel movements, changes in appetite, or unusual behavior.
For now, ensure your dog isn't showing signs of illness like vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy. If they are, this could be an indication of something like a dietary indiscretion or even an infection.
