I’m feeling a bit anxious and could really use some advice from fellow pet parents. My pup is on Simparica Trio, and I’ve been super diligent about giving it to him. But here’s where my anxiety kicks in: I've been giving it to him monthly on the same date (like July 11, Aug 11, and so on) because it just fits so well with my calendar reminders. However, I recently read that it's supposed to be given every 30 days exactly, and now I'm freaking out a little. What if I've messed this up and he's not fully protected? He’s our little adventure buddy, always rolling around outside, so the thought of him not being covered freaks me out. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I be changing my reminders to every 30 days instead of sticking to the monthly date? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hello! It's great that you're keeping up with your pet's health needs—Simparica Trio is an effective way to protect against fleas, ticks, and some worms. To answer your question, Simparica Trio is designed to be given every 30 days. This ensures continuous protection, as the medication is formulated to last for that time period. However, if you find it easier to remember by giving it on the same date each month, that's usually okay too. Just be aware that if a month has 31 days, there could be a slight gap in coverage.
To help stay on track, try setting a recurring reminder on your phone or marking it on your calendar. If you ever miss a dose by a few days, give it as soon as you remember and continue with the same monthly schedule.
Keep an eye out for any signs of flea or tick activity on your pet, such as increased scratching, chewing, or visible fleas or ticks. If you notice these or any unusual symptoms like lethargy or changes in appetite, it’s a good idea to consult a vet.
