Diarrhea after a diet change is often due to introducing the new food too quickly. A gradual transition, over 7-10 days, mixing increasing amounts of new food with decreasing amounts of old, is recommended. Ensure the new food is appropriate for a puppy's age and activity level. Mild, temporary soft stools can happen, but persistent or severe diarrhea, or accompanying symptoms like vomiting, lethargy, or loss of appetite, warrant concern.
