Thanks for reaching out with your concern about your new kitten. I understand how worrisome it can be when your pet isn’t feeling well. Kittens can become sick for a variety of reasons, such as infections (like respiratory viruses), parasites, or even stress from adjusting to a new environment.
Keep an eye on your kitten for symptoms like sneezing, coughing, diarrhea, vomiting, or a loss of appetite, which can indicate a more specific issue. It's crucial to ensure your kitten stays hydrated, so encourage them to drink water. Offer small, frequent meals of bland food to entice eating and make sure their environment is warm and comfortable.
However, if your kitten is very lethargic, breathing rapidly, has persistent vomiting or diarrhea, or if you notice any blood in their stool or vomit, it's important to act quickly. These signs may indicate something more serious that requires immediate veterinary attention.
I recommend scheduling a video consult with Dial A Vet so we can discuss your kitten’s symptoms in more detail. This will allow us to provide tailored advice and determine whether a visit to a local vet clinic is needed. Your little one’s health and comfort are our priority!
My new kitten is very sick
I’m kind of freaking out and really need some advice. My new kitten, Luna, isn't doing well at all. She’s only been with me for a couple of weeks, and everything was fine until yesterday. She’s usually super playful, chasing her little toy mouse all over the place, but suddenly she’s just been lying around looking miserable. Her appetite has dropped, and she won’t even touch her favorite treats. Plus, she’s been sneezing a lot and her eyes are a bit watery. I’m terrified something is seriously wrong. I’m planning to get her to the vet first thing in the morning, but does anyone know how I can help her feel more comfortable in the meantime? I feel so helpless seeing her like this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
