Gastrointestinal upset during food transitions is common in dogs. Their digestive systems need time to adjust to new ingredients. The key is a slow, gradual transition over 7-10 days. Start by mixing 25% new food with 75% old food for a few days. If no issues arise, move to 50/50 for another few days, then 75% new/25% old, finally transitioning to 100% new food. If your dog has a particularly sensitive stomach, you might extend each step even longer. Probiotics can also be helpful during this process.
