Hello, and thank you for reaching out with your concern. It must have been quite a rollercoaster of emotions to experience your cat's unexpected arrival, so let's discuss what that could mean for his health.
The good news is that many kittens revived at birth go on to live completely normal, healthy lives. Some potential complications might include respiratory issues, as the lack of oxygen at birth can occasionally lead to difficulties in how their lungs or brain develop. Most kittens show signs of problems relatively soon, so keep an eye on your little one for any trouble breathing, coughing, or lethargy.
At home, monitoring your kitten’s growth and development is key. Make sure he is feeding well, active, and gaining weight appropriately. Provide a warm, calm environment and schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian to monitor his progress closely.
Look for signs such as difficulty breathing, lack of appetite, or unusual behavior, as these could indicate a more serious problem. If you notice any of these signs, it's important to seek veterinary attention promptly.

My cat was born deceased, and then revived. Will this cause him any health problems?
I'm really looking for some advice and maybe some reassurance here. A couple of days ago, my cat gave birth, and it was both an amazing and an incredibly stressful experience. One of the kittens was born completely unresponsive, and I was sure we had lost him. We tried everything and, somehow, he came around after what felt like an eternity. I'm just so worried now that having been born effectively deceased might mean there could be long-term health consequences for him. He's eating and seems to be functioning okay, but I can’t shake off this anxiety that something might be wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it mean he might face future health issues? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right for this little miracle. Any insights would really be appreciated!
