I'm really reaching out here because I'm just at a loss. My sweet cat, Luna, has been throwing up every single day for the past week and I’m feeling so helpless. She’s always been a healthy little thing, but now she can hardly keep anything down. I haven't changed her food or anything in her environment, but every time she eats, it just comes back up. I've already switched her to smaller, more frequent meals, but it doesn't seem to help. She still seems like herself, playing and purring, but I'm worried this might be more serious than just an upset stomach. Have any of you dealt with something like this before? Should I rush her to the vet or is there something I could try at home first? Completely stressing out over here and would really love some advice or reassurance. Thank you!
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear your cat is having a tough time with frequent vomiting. It's understandable to be concerned when our furry friends are not feeling well. Vomiting in cats can be caused by several things, from minor issues like hairballs or eating too quickly, to more serious conditions like infections, organ dysfunction, or toxins.
Firstly, take a close look at your cat's eating habits. Do they tend to eat too fast? If so, try giving smaller, more frequent meals. Also, check their environment for anything potentially harmful they might have ingested.
Make sure your cat is staying hydrated, as vomiting can lead to dehydration. Encourage sipping on fresh water regularly. You might also try feeding a bland diet like boiled chicken and rice for a day or so to ease their stomach.
Keep an eye out for other changes such as lethargy, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or signs of pain, which could indicate a more serious problem. If your cat is still vomiting after a day or two or shows any concerning signs, it’s important to seek professional help.
I suggest scheduling a video consult with one of our vets at Dial A Vet, where we can discuss your cat's symptoms in more detail and guide you further. We’re here to help you both through this.
