Thanks for reaching out about your cat's issue. Discovering a hole or lesion on your cat's neck can definitely be concerning! Let's go through a few possibilities.
One potential cause is an abscess, which can occur if your cat has been in a scuffle with another animal. These are quite common and often result from a small puncture wound. Cats with abscesses may also show signs of swelling, oozing, or tenderness in the affected area.
Another possibility could be a reaction to a parasite, like fleas or ticks, especially if the area seems itchy or your cat is scratching a lot. Allergic reactions or irritations from something like a collar or grooming product can sometimes cause similar issues.
For at-home care, keep the area clean by gently wiping it with a warm, damp cloth. It's also a good idea to monitor it for changes in size, redness, or if it starts to produce a discharge. Limit your cat's licking or scratching the area, as that could further irritate it.
Watch for signs such as fever, lethargy, or changes in eating habits, as these could indicate a more serious issue that needs veterinary attention.

I Found A Hole On The Back Of My Cat's Neck
Help, I'm really worried about my cat, Luna. Yesterday, while petting her, I discovered a small hole on the back of her neck, and I'm freaking out. It doesn't seem to bother her much when I touch around it, but there's a little bit of redness and it looks like it's starting to scab over. Luna is an indoor-only cat, so I'm not sure how this happened. She hasn't been acting differently; she's still her sweet self, eating and playing like normal. Has anyone else experienced something like this with their kitty? Could it be an insect bite or maybe something else? I'm concerned about infection and wondering if I should take her to the vet or if I can treat this at home. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!
