I completely understand why you're worried. Cats are curious creatures and sometimes accidents like this happen. I'd like to help you assess the situation and make sure your feline friend is alright.
First, take a close look at your cat. If they’re limping, have cuts, bruises, or seem to be in pain when you touch a certain area, they might be injured. Oftentimes, cats can hide their discomfort pretty well, so watch for changes in behavior, such as hiding more than usual, refusing food, or being unusually vocal.
At home, you can provide a comfortable and quiet place for your cat to rest if they seem a bit shaken up. Keep an eye on their eating and drinking habits, as well as their bathroom routines, as any significant changes could indicate an underlying issue.
However, if you notice symptoms like heavy breathing, persistent crying, swelling, or if your cat cannot put weight on a limb, these are signs to seek veterinary care promptly, as they might suggest a more serious injury.
It’s great that you’re being proactive about this. To get more personalized advice, consider booking a video consult with one of our veterinarians on Dial A Vet. They can assess your cat more closely and guide you on the next best steps.
I accidentally hit my cat with the footrest on my couch.
Help, I’m freaking out a bit. Earlier this evening, around 7 PM, I accidentally hit my cat Max with the footrest on the couch — it just snapped up out of nowhere. I didn’t see him there, and now he’s limping a little when he walks and seems to be avoiding his favorite spots. He’s also not as playful as usual, and he usually never turns down a game of string chase. I feel terrible and don’t know if I should rush him to the vet or wait it out. Has anyone else had something similar happen? I’d really appreciate any advice or reassurance.
