Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about the mishap with the hair removal cream and your cat! Don’t worry; we can certainly help you out here.
First, make sure to gently rinse the area with lukewarm water as soon as possible. This will help remove any residue that might be left on their skin. Be thorough but gentle, and use a mild pet shampoo if you have one.
Hair removal creams can sometimes cause skin irritation or even burns, so keeping a close eye on your furry friend is important. Look for signs like redness, swelling, blistering, or any changes in behavior such as excessive licking, grooming, or noticeable discomfort.
While you've already addressed it, if you notice any of these signs or if your cat seems distressed, it’s best to have a vet evaluate them to ensure everything's okay.
At this point, monitoring your cat's skin for the next couple of days is important. Avoid letting them groom the area, as ingesting the cream can also be harmful.
I highly recommend booking a video consult with us here at Dial A Vet if you notice any worrying symptoms or just need further peace of mind. We’re here to help you and your cat with any support you might need!
Hair removal cream accidently on cat
I'm really stressed out and could use some advice. This morning, in a total brain fog, I left a tube of hair removal cream on the bathroom counter. My curious little furball, Mittens, somehow got into it while I was making coffee and, to my horror, ended up with some on her side. I freaked out and tried to wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth, but I'm super worried because she's been licking the area since. Her skin looks a bit red, and I'm not sure if she ingested any of it. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What should I do to make sure she's okay? I'm feeling so guilty; I can't believe I was so careless. Any quick advice on how to help her or whether I should rush her to the vet would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
