Hello there! It sounds like your furry friend is experiencing some unusual discharge. It’s great that you reached out for advice. Green or clear discharge from your dog’s genital area can have several causes. For a spayed female, one common cause could be a minor infection or irritation in the vulva area, especially if she has been playing outside or around other animals.
Another possibility is that it might be related to a urinary tract infection, which can cause discomfort and unusual discharge. In some cases, discharge might also stem from a yeast infection, which can develop if the area is moist consistently.
At home, you can gently clean the area with lukewarm water and a clean cloth. Ensure she's not licking the area excessively, as this could irritate the skin further. Keeping her living area clean can also help prevent any potential infections from worsening.
However, if you notice any additional symptoms such as a foul odor, excessive licking, swelling, redness, lack of energy, or if she seems to be in pain, it’s time to consult a veterinarian promptly. These signs can indicate something more serious requiring professional attention.
We’re here to help! I recommend booking a video consult with one of our veterinarians on Dial A Vet to get a closer look at what’s happening and ensure she’s back to her waggy-tailed self in no time. Take care!
Green/ clear Discharge F ( dog ) spayed
I'm feeling really worried and could use some advice. My sweet girl, Luna, has been acting a bit off lately. She was spayed about six months ago, and everything seemed fine until just recently. I noticed she’s started having a strange discharge, kind of greenish and clear. She doesn’t appear to be in pain or anything, but it’s freaking me out. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is it possible it's related to her being spayed? I'm planning on calling the vet first thing tomorrow, but I'm kind of stressing out and could use some reassurance or pointers in the meantime. Thanks so much for any help.
