Hi there! I understand why you’re concerned about your dog suddenly appearing to act “stoned.” Let’s explore some possibilities to give you a clearer picture of what might be going on.
There are several potential causes for this behavior change. Your dog may have ingested something toxic, like certain plants, chocolate, or even medications not intended for them. Other possibilities include neurological issues such as seizures or a vestibular problem affecting their balance. Additionally, metabolic issues like low blood sugar could also cause sudden behavior changes.
At home, you can check the areas your pet has recently been in for any signs of substances they might have ingested. Keep an eye on their drinking and eating habits, and try to make them comfortable in a quiet, safe space while you observe them.
Watch for signs that require immediate attention, such as vomiting, loss of coordination, repeated seizures, extreme lethargy, or difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these, it's important to seek veterinary care right away.

Dog went from normal to acting stoned (not drunk) within minutes
I'm really hoping someone here might have some advice or insight. My dog, Max, was totally fine this morning—his usual wagging self, eagerly chasing his ball around the yard. But just a little while ago, he suddenly started behaving really strangely, almost like he’s stoned or something, not drunk. He’s moving slowly and kind of stumbling, and his eyes look glazed over. He’s usually so full of energy, and it’s like he’s in a completely different world right now. I didn't give him any new food or treats, and he hasn’t been out of my sight except when he was in the backyard. I'm super worried because it's such a sudden change. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their pets? What should I be looking for or doing right now? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
