I'm really in need of some honest perspectives here. So, ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian because I've always had such a deep love for animals. I'm finally a year into vet school, but it's way more overwhelming than I ever expected. The emotional toll of dealing with sick pets and the heartbreaking decisions pet owners have to make are really starting to weigh on me. On top of that, the workload and financial stress are making it even harder. I guess my question is, for those of you who chose this path, did you ever regret it? How did you deal with the emotional and mental challenges? I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth sticking it out or if I'm not cut out for this after all. Any advice or insights would be super appreciated!

The "Ask a Vet" forum on Dial A Vet offers general information and helpful tips on pet health, but it's
not a substitute for professional veterinary care. The advice here doesn't create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship, and our vets can't diagnose or treat your pet remotely.
For emergencies or specific medical concerns, always contact your local veterinarian immediately. Your pet's health is unique, and decisions should only be made after consulting with a qualified professional.
