Question:

Dasuquin w/ MSM and Flexadin together?

I’m really in need of some advice and hoping you all can lend a hand. I’ve got a 9-year-old golden retriever named Max who means the world to me. He’s been having a tough time with his joints lately, and I want to do everything I can to help him stay comfortable and happy. I started him on Dasuquin with MSM about a month ago, and I’ve heard some people also swear by Flexadin. I’m wondering if anyone knows if it’s safe or even beneficial to combine these two supplements? I’m just worried about overloading his system or causing any adverse effects. He’s been just the best companion and I hate seeing him struggle to get up the stairs or play fetch like he used to. Any insights or personal experiences you could share would be so appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer:

Hi there! It's great that you're looking into joint health for your pet. Dasuquin with MSM and Flexadin are both supplements that can support joint health, but it's crucial to approach combining them with care.

Essentially, both products share some ingredients such as glucosamine, but they have unique components too. Sometimes, using both simultaneously can exceed the ideal dosage of certain ingredients. This excess may be unnecessary and not cost-effective, and occasionally, it can upset your pet's stomach.

Since every pet is different, their needs will vary based on their age, size, and specific health conditions. Observing your pet is key—look for improvements like better mobility or signs of discomfort like limping, swelling, or any behavior changes.

At home, ensure your pet has a cozy, supportive resting area and a balanced diet that promotes joint health. Maintain a regular, low-impact exercise routine to avoid excess strain.

Keep an eye out for any adverse reactions like vomiting, diarrhea, changes in appetite, or lethargy, which could indicate a need to tweak their supplement regimen or suggest a more serious issue.

I recommend scheduling a video consult with one of our vets on Dial A Vet. We can discuss your pet’s particular situation and verify if the combination is beneficial or if modifications are necessary. Your pet’s well-being is our top priority!

The "Ask a Vet" forum on Dial A Vet offers general information and helpful tips on pet health, but it's not a substitute for professional veterinary care. The advice here doesn't create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship, and our vets can't diagnose or treat your pet remotely. For emergencies or specific medical concerns, always contact your local veterinarian immediately. Your pet's health is unique, and decisions should only be made after consulting with a qualified professional. By using this forum, you acknowledge these limitations and agree to seek in-person veterinary advice for all your pet's health needs. View our content guidelines.

It was so easy, I needed some eye drops for my dog and thinking about going to the vet on a weekend made me nervous about the cost involved. Dial A Vet was a much simpler, cheaper option with faster results. Within 10 minutes of the call, I had the medicine I needed for my dog without an expensive consultation.

What an amazing service, at my wits end as I knew my beautiful dog had an ear infection, could not get into the vet for 4 days. Never knew there was vets online until I googled. Within 15 minutes on a Sunday I was taking to beautiful Samantha who diagnosed and treated our Jasper. Only $49. She trusted that we knew our boy and gave us lots of advice. I will definitely be using dial a vet every time and sharing with all my friends and family. Absolutely fantastic kind caring service. 11/10
