Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your cat is being a bit fussy with their food. Let's try to figure out what's going on and get them back on track!
When a cat only licks the gravy but won’t eat solid food, it might be because they're feeling unwell or uncomfortable in some way. This behavior can occasionally be a sign of dental issues, like gum disease or a toothache, that make chewing painful. It's also possible that an upset stomach or nausea is affecting their appetite. Stress, changes in the household, or even a dislike for a particular brand can sometimes cause this too.
At home, you can try offering them a bland diet like boiled chicken, plain turkey, or some warmed-up wet cat food, which can be more enticing and easier to consume. Sometimes warming the food slightly enhances the aroma, encouraging them to eat. Make sure to keep their food and water bowls clean, as cats can be particular about cleanliness.
Keep an eye out for signs like weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy. If you notice any of these, it could indicate a more serious issue that needs attention.

Cat will only lick gravy and won't eat even dry food or treats
I'm really hoping someone here can help me out because I'm at my wits' end. My cat, Whiskers, has suddenly become the pickiest eater on the planet and I'm starting to get seriously worried. She used to wolf down her wet food, but now she only licks the gravy and leaves the rest untouched. I've tried switching to different flavors and brands, but it's the same story every time. Even her dry food, which she used to munch on without a second thought, is completely ignored. I've offered her treats she used to love, and she just gives them a quick sniff and walks away. I'm terrified she's not getting the nutrients she needs. She seems a bit lazier than usual too, but otherwise okay. Has anyone been through this before? I'm really anxious something might be wrong. Any advice or similar experiences would mean the world to me right now. Thanks in advance!
