Thanks for reaching out with your concern about your cat's eye. It's always a bit unsettling to notice any sort of growth on our pets, but let's see if I can help clarify what might be going on.
A growth on a cat's eye can be caused by several things. It might be something benign, like a cyst or a small tumor known as a meibomian gland adenoma. Sometimes, viral infections like feline herpesvirus can cause growths, and occasionally, more serious issues such as squamous cell carcinoma, especially if your cat has light-colored eyes and skin, could be to blame. Keep in mind that while some growths can be harmless, others might require attention sooner rather than later.
At home, try to keep your cat comfortable and prevent them from rubbing or scratching at the growth, as this could cause irritation or infection. Monitor the growth for changes in size, color, or if it starts to bother your cat — like if they’re squinting or it’s weeping.
Look for signs such as increased redness, discharge, significant growth, or if your cat seems to be in pain or discomfort. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult a veterinarian promptly.

Cat has growth on his eye.
Help, I’m really worried about my cat, Oliver. Over the past few days, I've noticed this small bump developing on his right eye, and it's freaking me out. At first, I thought it might just be a little irritation, but it hasn't gone away and seems to be getting bigger. He’s trying to paw at it, which makes me nervous that it’s bothering him more than I thought. He's usually this adventurous little guy, but now he seems a bit down and isn't even interested in his favorite toy. I’m really concerned about what this growth could be. I've read everything and anything that the internet has to offer, but I'm getting conflicting information. Some say it might resolve on its own, while others suggest it could be something serious like a tumor. I haven’t taken him to the vet yet, mostly because I wanted to see if it would disappear, but I’m starting to think I should. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their fur baby? What did you do? I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from anyone who’s been through this.
