Help, I don’t know what is happening with my cat, Luna. Over the past couple of days, she’s been acting really strange and I’m quite worried. She keeps twitching her back in a way I’ve never seen before, and it seems to happen at random. Along with that, she’s been meowing non-stop, which is so unlike her. Normally, she’s my quiet little shadow, but now it’s like she’s trying to tell me something and I just can’t figure it out. I’ve checked everywhere to see if something might be hurting her, but everything seems normal. I’m really at a loss here and would love some insight from anyone who has experienced something similar with their fur babies. I’m planning to call the vet soon, but any ideas in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reaching out with your concern about your cat. When a cat’s back is twitching and they’re meowing nonstop, it could be due to a few different reasons. One possibility is that your cat is feeling itchy or uncomfortable due to allergies, fleas, or skin irritation. Cats may also twitch and vocalize if they're in pain or stressed.
At times, these symptoms might even be linked to a condition called Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome, where cats experience heightened sensitivity. In most cases, it's not an emergency, but it does warrant some attention and addressing to keep your kitty happy.
For now, you can try gently brushing your cat to remove loose fur and check for any signs of fleas or skin irritation. Ensure they're in a calm and stress-free environment, with plenty of opportunities for play and rest. Make sure their litter box is clean and they have access to fresh water and food.
Keep an eye out for any additional signs, like changes in appetite, grooming habits, or mobility, as these might indicate a more serious issue. If the twitching persists or your cat seems distressed, it would be wise to speak with a vet.
