Thanks for reaching out about your cat's situation. It sounds incredibly frustrating and concerning to see your furry friend going through seizures and ataxia (loss of coordination) when all the test results, including the MRI, are coming back normal.
In cases like this, where diagnostics don't immediately point to a clear cause, we consider possibilities like idiopathic epilepsy, which is when seizures happen without an identifiable reason. Sometimes, metabolic issues such as low blood sugar or abnormalities in electrolytes can also be culprits despite normal results in other areas. Infections or inflammatory conditions affecting the brain that don't always show up on an MRI might also be factors.
At home, try to create a safe environment for your cat. During seizures, it’s crucial to keep them from injuring themselves. Remove any sharp objects or furniture nearby and make sure they’re in a safe area. Keep track of seizure frequency and length, as this information can be valuable for your vet.
Watch for signs like prolonged seizures lasting more than five minutes, increased frequency of seizures, or any severe behavioral changes. These can indicate a more serious problem that needs immediate attention.

Absolutely stumped and unexplained : all results including the MRI is normal but cat is having seizures and ataxia
I'm at a loss and desperately need some advice. My sweet little furball, Whiskers, has been having these terrifying episodes of seizures and ataxia for the past couple of weeks, but all the tests we've done, including an MRI, have come back completely normal. It's so frustrating and heartbreaking to see him go through this, and not knowing the cause is making it even harder. The vet is puzzled too, and we've tried everything from changing his diet to adding supplements, but nothing seems to help. Has anyone ever gone through something similar with their cat? What else can I do? I'm terrified something awful is happening inside him that we're just not catching. Any suggestions or similar experiences would really put my mind at ease.
