Hello there, and thank you for reaching out about your little kitten. Finding blood in your kitten’s urine can understandably be alarming. It's reassuring that he's not showing other symptoms right now, but it’s still important to get to the bottom of this.
Blood in a kitten's urine can be due to a few reasons. It could be urinary tract infection (UTI), which is less common in males but still possible. Crystals or stones in the urinary tract, though rare in very young cats, could also cause irritation and blood. Sometimes, stress or a congenital issue could be contributing factors.
For now, make sure your kitten is drinking plenty of water to help maintain a healthy urinary system. Having multiple water bowls around can encourage more drinking, as can using a pet fountain.
Watch for changes in his behavior that might signal a bigger problem, like straining to urinate, going outside the litter box, or if he seems in distress when urinating. If any of these occur, or if the bleeding continues, it’s important to seek veterinary advice promptly.
I recommend setting up a video consult with one of our vets at Dial A Vet. They'll be able to guide you in taking the next steps for your kitten’s health.
3.5 Month Old Male Neutered Kitten, Blood in Urine w/o Other Symptoms
I’m really hoping someone can help me out here. I have a little 3.5-month-old kitten named Oliver, who recently got neutered. Everything seemed to go smoothly with his recovery until today when I noticed something concerning. I was cleaning his litter box and saw small spots of blood in his urine. Oliver seems completely fine otherwise — he’s eating, playing, and cuddling just like his usual mischievous self, but I can’t stop worrying. I’ve been reading up about possible causes, but I’m a bit overwhelmed. Has anyone else experienced something like this with their fur babies? Is it something that resolves on its own, or should I rush him to the vet ASAP? Any advice or insight would be super appreciated. Thank you!
