3 Vets and no clear answer yet. FIP? Triaditis? IBD,

I'm at my wit's end and could really use some advice. My sweet cat, Luna, hasn't been herself for weeks now, and I'm beyond worried. We've been to three different vets, and still, no one has given me a solid answer. One thought it might be FIP, another suggested triaditis, and the last mentioned the possibility of IBD. Luna used to be so energetic, always chasing her toys and purring beside me, but now she barely eats and sleeps more than usual. Each vet visit leaves me more confused than the last. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with their cat? Any insights or suggestions on what tests or treatments I should insist on? I just want to do right by her and see her lively and happy again.

Answer

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns—I'm here to help. It sounds like you're dealing with something quite challenging, and I completely understand your frustration.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), Triaditis, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) are all serious conditions that can share symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and lethargy. I can imagine how tough it must be to not have a clear diagnosis yet. FIP is caused by a viral infection and is more common in young cats. It often leads to fluid accumulation or neurological symptoms. Triaditis involves inflammation of the liver, pancreas, and intestines, while IBD leads to chronic inflammation in the gut.

At home, you can support your cat by ensuring a stress-free environment, feeding easily digestible food, and maintaining hydration. However, chronic issues like these really do need veterinary intervention.

Look out for signs of severe issues like persistent vomiting, jaundice, or sudden changes in behavior, as these require immediate attention.

Given the complexity of these conditions, I strongly recommend booking a video consult with Dial A Vet to dive deeper into your cat's history and symptoms. This will help us tailor the most suitable approach for your beloved furry friend.
